Eran Zur is one of the most respected Israeli singer-songwriters. He writes lyrics in Hebrew that touch the invisible border of poetry and pop/rock style. With his special low vocals, he tends to deal with key issues in Israeli society in Hebrew like Israeli identity, Jewish identity, and sexual identity.
He was born in Haifa in the mid 60’s, and now he lives in Tel Aviv, married to Avital, and a father of 2 children. His parents were teachers, and he grew up in a family that admires the Hebrew language and literature. He began to write and play songs at the age of 15.
In the mid 80’s he moved to Tel Aviv in order to learn music, at which point he started to play new wave music with school friends in Tel Aviv clubs. In 1990, he founded his own group named “Carmela Gross Vevagner,” and they released the album “Perach Shachor “in 1991. In 1995, Tzur released his first solo album, “Iver belev yam “. In 1997, Eran recorded a special album of Yona Volach poems, in which he composed the music. Yona Volach was one of the most important Israeli poets of the 1970s and 1980s. In 2000 he released the album “Tachlit batachtit”, and in 2004 he published his first book named “Beit Ashman “. In 2006, he released his latest album. Tzur is also teaching music, and composing music for films, theater and dance shows.
