Metropolin is a musical project which includes many Israeli artists. The project was founded by Ofer Meiri, an Israeli music producer and musican who created many TV commercials and jingles and also produced the albums of artists as Dana Berger and Korin Alal.

Their first single, “Hazirim” (”Pigs”) was released in October 2003 with much hype and one could tell the producer thought he had created something in the “Metropolin” musical group that worth waiting for. “Lishon Bli Halom” (”Sleeping Without a Dream,”), the second single came out at the end of 2004, featuring Dana Berger on the sounds and this reinforced the status of “Metropolin” as a high-quality musical outfit. “Lo Omeret Klum” (”Not Saying Anything”), the third single by the group, performed by Sharona Nestowitz, became an overnight hit, gained fantastic exposure on all the radio stations in February 2005 and this success paved the way for the album release a month later.

Although he sings in many of the track parts, Ofer, the lead singer of Metropolin, preferred to gather singers of both sexes around him to sing the 13 songs which make up the first album. Hovering over the songs is a sense of urban estrangement which also comes through in the speech segments in the album, where foreign workers and members of the Hebrews from Dimona talk about Israel.

The album soon attained a Gold Album status, along with earning the title of “the Album of the Year” of the Israeli Music Channel, namely Channel 24.

After the album was released, Ofer Meiri went on a performance tour with the rest of the band. He admitted several times that he liked the sound and energy of the performances when involved rather than simply sitting in the studio producing music. Over the course of the performances, the participants came closer together and became a close-knit musical group comprised of Meiri, Barak Gabizon, Dana Adini, Amitay Asher and Ronny Alter, together with permanent players.

Following the successful tour and sales of over 20,000 copies of the first album, Ofer Meiri came back to the studio with the others who had bonded on the previous tour to record a second album. This time, Ofer Meiri chose “HaGlil” (the Coil”) as the name of his second album, which deals, among other things, with existential problems and science fiction. The theme song, for instance, tells about illusory ex-terrestrial creatures who extol the theory that humans lack certain DNA coils and therefore cannot upgrade ourselves and attain spiritual enlightenment. It certainly is vibrant and entertaining! The new album is marked by elements of Progressive Music and Art-Rock. It is rough in parts, with glittering sides to it, featuring exclusive guests such as; Ivry Lider, Arkady Duchin and Aviv Gefen, who has worked with Ofer Meiri over the last two years on a variety of projects. Therefore, featuring them as guests in the new album conducted by Meiri was something that suggested itself quite plainly.

The first single from “HaSlil” is called “Al Telhi” (”Do Not Go”), and came out in July 2007. Like with “Pigs”, the first single from the preceding album, it was important to Meiri that the initial single would be a bold statement showing the change of atmosphere and direction of the album. “The album has hits too”, he says, “but in my mind this song is slightly more sophisticated, and as a listener, I occasionally feel like hearing more sophisticated things on the radio”.
“Do not Go” is therefore the song introducing the second album of Metropolin that was released at the end of August 2007, and which introduces, by Meiri’s account, the journey lasting throughout the listening time. The second single which came from “The Coil” is “Ein Li Makom” (”I Have No Place”), executed by Dana Adini, which is constantly played on the radio and has quickly become a hit.
